This is a DVD of a TV show that was broadcast on NFL Network.

It contains the usual in-depth converage of the Ice Bowl and Super Bowl II, but what I enjoyed most is the footage of the regular season of the 1967 Green Bay Packers.

That's what will make this DVD a valuable part of my collection and make me want to watch it again.

Great Family Movie!
I love this movie. Saw it for the first time on Turner Classics. Great talent, acting, movie score, story, etc. What I especially loved about this movie was how the relationship between father and son slowly grew into a truly loving one and proved what really matters in life. The last scene is very touching - it's the Dad who finally realizes the true meaning of wealth -- and it is not measured by dollars. When you are forced to choose, it's not as difficult as it may seem. Great movie for family together time. You will not regret buying this one!

A great classic !
Richard Widmark was an under appreciated actor ! This gem of a film reminds us of a better time in America when love counted for more than wealth.

It was refreshing to see Richard Widmark's character as a good guy instead of of a bad guy. He has been one of my favorite actors and I like his portrayal in this film.

Marx Brothers: Collection

Good but not quite great...
Fans of the Marx Brothers movies have had to wait a long time to finally see their heroes done justice on the DVD format. Image Entertainment released a now out-of-print box set a few years ago with simply awful transfers and no extras. Hopes were raised when Warner Brothers announced that they would be releasing their own box set this year. The good news is that the Warners discs feature excellent transfers of every movie with a solid collection of supplemental material. The bad news is that many of the Marx Brothers most famous and beloved early films, like The Cocoanuts and Animal Crackers are not included set. So what exactly does one get with this new box set?

The first film in the set is A Night at the Opera, arguably one of the Marx Brothers best films of their career. It was the first film after they were pushed out of Paramount Studios because of the commercial and critical failure of Duck Soup.

Opera was a huge hit and put the Marx Brothers back on the map. They wisely...

To help clear up some of the confusion ...
As mentioned elsewhere, this collection does not include any of the complete films, but rather tv & misc. other clips. Since I will probably return the item, I haven't yet broken the seal and cannot comment on the quality. However, I should note that the total run-time is approx. 5 hours -- much less than one would assume for a 5-disc set.

If you are looking for more content information, don't bother with Koch Vision Entertainment's site. They are clearly not enthuastic about revealing more details about this release.

NFL America's Game: 1986 GIANTS (Super Bowl XXI)

Another season highlight film worth a purchase
NFL Network's production of "America's Game" has a documentary covering the season of each Super Bowl winner. They add a new perspective never before seen in previously released documentaries, from 2 - 3 players and sometimes the head coach. This one is no different, offering some very interesting insight into the Giants' first Super Bowl run. No beeps over cuss words, just pure 100% insight from the men who lived it, in their own words. Definitely worth the purchase, especially if you are a Giants fan!

complete garbage
I was expecting the entire game and got nothing of the sort. They showed about a minutes worth of highlights and that was it. I only wanted this game because a friend of mine snuck on the Giants sideline without even having a ticket to enter the stadium, and I wanted to view him because he is in many shots and even held down the umpires arm and called the first down himself (this is how he got caught). He was also the only civilian to make it onto the field when the Mets beat Boston that same year in the World Series. After Jesse Orosco strikes out the last batter and throws up his glove, you see my friend Kevin run on the field, you cant miss him. He is wearing a blue shirt, and runs out right behind home plate. He also snuck into that game into 2nd row seats and was sitting 2 seats away from the president. I don't understand why a full game cannot be purchased, it doesn't make any sense!

Very Good DVD
This was the second consecutive Super Bowl for the Cowboys in the 90's. It is pretty good but not near as good as Super Bowl XXVII. I'm not sure if it is the editing or what. I am not knowledgeable about such thing.

Three Came Home

An Underrated WWII Film Well Worth Your Time
I had never even heard of Three Came Home until I ran across it in a catalog. The description sounded interesting enough to get me to buy it, and I'm glad I did. Three Came Home is a riveting and moving film that grabs the viewer and never lets go. Focusing on what happened to many civilians in the Pacific the film covers a 4 year period from 1941 to 1945, and it shows what kind of hardships and trials many people had to endure in prison camps during the war, primarily focusing on womens camps. Claudette Colbert gives a fantastic performance, and Sessue Hayakawa is outstanding as the Colonel in charge of the prison camps. The script is intelligent and filled with great dialogue, and the acting is first rate throughout. The Alpha DVD is quite good - the print is VERY clean for a "bargain" (public domain) copy, and you should have no concerns as to the quality of this DVD. Highly recommended.

A Classic Comes Home.
One of the best World War Two era dramas ever. The fact that I had never heard of this movie is a testament to it's being under-rated. It's usually not shown in retrospectives of war movies, not enough testosterone displayed, I presume, which is a shame, as it is a powerful take on the "human" side of war, and the effects on the individual. Claudette Colbert, whose only starring role I was familiar with was in "It Happened One Night", is wonderfully touching and noble in this true- story based drama of an author forcefully seperated from her husband and placed, with her little boy, in a Japanese prison camp. As anyone who reads my reviews knows, I like strong womens roles, the good ones of which are few and far between. This is one of the best. Her portrayal is one of pathos, bravery, and perseverence in the face of overwhelming, spirit- breaking odds. This film also offers a rare for that time somewhat sympathetic view of the Japanese, in the role of Sessue...

Real Life Survival Story
Claudette Colbert gives a very strong performance as real life writer Agnes Keith, an American woman living on Borneo with her British husband and son during WWII. When the Japanese invade, she and her son are separated from her husband, Patric Knowles, and all are imprisoned in camps. A Japanese colonel, very well played by Sessue Hayakawa, takes an interest in Colbert since he has read her book, and they have a platonic relationship that is one of the most interesting features of the movie. He has been educated in America, and he reveals more about himself than a typical Japanese soldier would. Three Came Home illustrates the poor conditions of prison camps during WWII and the effect of the war on those who weren't soldiers but had to fight to survive. It's a dramatic story, well acted, and worth viewing.

NFL America's Game: 1992 COWBOYS (Super Bowl XXVII)

Terrific
I ordered all three of the DVD's for the Cowboy's three Super Bowls.....XXVII, XXVIII, and XXX. This is by far the best one of the three...the editing, the content, etc. all were just super and very entertaining. Wish I could have been there.

Good viewing for Cowboys Fans!
Entertaining and informative. Not the entire game but having some highlights and insight into the team were well worth the asking price.

Grave of the Fireflies [Blu-ray]

Transcends Anime to be one of the saddest forms of any media
I generally don't cry at movies. I love any movie that can move me enough to shed a tear or two. Grave Of the Fireflies is not one of those movies. In those movies even though I'm sad the final scenes leave me with a residual hope that while some tragic event has just occured the charecters involved will grow and live better. Grave of the Fireflies doesn't do this. There is no hope or possiabilty of things getting better. This is Life at it's cruelest. Life that will never get better. This movie doesn't move you, it shatters you.

Seita And Setsuko (the boy and His little sister) aren't Heros and their abusive aunt isn't the villian. Neither for that matter is either side of the war protrayed as good or bad in these movie. This is just a story of people being people. some kind, some indiffrent and some compleatly harsh. Seita makes mistakes that many children in his position would.

Although fifteen years old this film is still very beatiful. The images it portrays are quiet and...

Emotionally powerful, hauntingly poetic, anti-war anime
"Grave of the Fireflies" ("Hotaru no haka") is one of the most powerful anti-war films I have ever seen, which means that it has no competition when it comes to emotional impact in terms of animated films. The death of Bambi's mother was a traumatic shock, but nothing like the sense of despair and grief that overwhelms you by the end of this film. The film begins with the spirit of a young boy showing us his death in a train station, after which we follow the fireflies into the past to see his story. At the beginning of the original movie of "Brian's Song" we were told: "All true stories end in death. This is a true story." So is "Grave of the Fireflies" because I have no problem granting the legitimacy of "truth" to fiction.

A Powerful And Relevant Anime Classic: A Journey Of True Love And Heartbreak Remastered For A New Generation
Note: It seems a crime that this classic has been off the DVD market. Now this digitally remastered and restored version will be able to reintroduce the film to a new generation.

"Grave of the Fireflies" is a film that I'd heard about for years before I finally got around to viewing it. As one of the most well-respected early anime classics--of course, I expected great things. I knew vaguely what the picture was about and knew that its tone strove for realism as opposed to fantasy. But what I didn't really comprehend is that it would be such a mature story geared toward adult audiences. The sophistication, complicated subject matter, and sorrow contained within "Grave of the Fireflies" made it one of the more surprisingly moving films that I'd seen in quite some time.

Riders Of The Purple Sage

A great Western
The best adaptation of the Zane Grey novel I have ever seen. A gritty, realistic drama with terrific acting and dialogue.

Lacks a scene selection on the menu
Been waiting several years for the DVD. Quality is excellent. There is no scene selection on the menu. Fast forward is sketch at best and rewind is nonexistent.

Great Zane Grey Duster
I have all Zane Grey's hardcover novels. This was always a favorite. Deals with the Mormon religion in the early days but doesn't come right out and say it. Ed Harris does a great job of playing the gunfighter out to avenge his sister who was taken by the church.

Naked Trip: On The Run From The Mafia

Naked Trip is a great indie movie. Almost reminded me of something David Lynch would do. Reminded me somewhat of Natural Born Killers too.

Great thriller!
This was a great thriller. Sexy, and suspenseful...very adult. It was a smart movie that left me feeling like I've discovered something here. I feel a little cooler than people who haven't seen this movie.

I'll watch again
Film Noir is one of the coolest film genres ever in my opinion so I really enjoyed this gritty movie. This is perfect for a rainy Saturday afternoon. Good flick.

Time Collectors: Return of the Giants

Could have been an X-Files episode.
The movie could have been an episode of the X-Files with some editing. The movie can be described as mildly dramatic, suspenseful, romantic, and mysterious. The movie also deals with questions about the development of life on Earth from Creationist and Darwinist perspectives. What the aged fossil collector obtains has the potential to call into question some of the established ideas the scientific community at large accepts. There is an example that was not mentioned in the movie but approximates the scenario set by the movie. Recently excavations at a site near Cactus Hill, Virginia produced stone tools that predate Clovis stone tools found at the same site. This gave rise to the controversial Solutrean Hypothesis. The pre-Clovis stone tools bear a strong resemblance to stone tools produced by the Solutrean culture in Europe. This suggests a trans-Atlantic crossing of Solutrean peoples from Europe to North America, during the last Ice Age. The authors of the following book...

Liked the movie and recomended it to our church group of 5. Loaned it to my friends to take home. Only one observation and that is why make things bigger than they are. Truth does not need to be enlarged to make it more appealing. It is beautiful in its own right. enlarging is lying.

NFL America's Game: 1997 BRONCOS (Super Bowl XXXII)

If You Love Elway, Buy This!
This really captures the year and tone before the Superbowl in great detail from so many perspectives. It also features a lot of interview time with Elway, who really knows how to tell a story. It's a must for any Broncos/Elway fan.

Not really what I was expecting
Probably not the fault of the seller - I guess I either didn't read the description right or did not understand what I was reading. I purchased this thinking it was a complete replay of the superbowl game. It is actually snippets of the game and interviews. My husband did enjoy watching that but was dissapointed that it wasn't what we had hoped it was.

Stricken

A wonderful film.
I saw Stricken during the original theatrical release. It's a wonderful film that will keep you on the edge of the seat. Everything about It's a great movie to watch with a date you want hanging on you the entire time ;).

Stricken was a local film created by up and coming film writers & producers. I attended the premier and it was well received by all who came. Oos and awes with screams and jumping during the scary parts. I really enjoyed it.

Dancing on the Abyss
I was ten years old when WORLD WAR III debuted on television. I was lusting for some good ole slam-bang, commie-slaughtering action, and in that regard I wasn't disappointed. This two part TV movie, however, offers a helluva lot more than bloody combat sequences. It's a frightening, really almost terrifying speculative look at how the Cold War might have ended with a red-hot bang.

The story begins sometime in the "near future" (which, since the flick was shot in '82, presumably means the late 1980s), with the Soviet Union being wracked by food riots caused by a U.S. led grain embargo. In response, and without the knowledge of the moderate Soviet leader Secretary Gorny (Brian Keith), KGB boss Gen. Rudenski (Robert Prosky) sends an elite Soviet unit led by Col. Voroshin (Jeroen Krabbe) to a remote part of Alaska.Their mission? To blackmail the U.S. into resuming grain shipments by threatening the Alaskan oil pipeline with destruction.

chilling and unusually poignant
i watched this miniseries as a kid in the 80s and was blown away at the time. Decades later, i found it on Amazon and, still being in possession of a vcr, obtained the tapes and watched it recently. This is one of the greatest miniseries scripts ive ever seen in terms of the constant one-upmanship and escalating tension. A crack team of Soviet paratroopers has covertly invaded Alaska with the goal of seizing an important Alaskan oil pumping station in a KGB scheme to blackmail the us into rescinding its grain embargo. David Soul is the troubled Colonel, exiled to Alaska, who must redeem himself leading a ragtag band of national guardsmen against a superior armed force. He communicates with the President, played with fierce intelligence by Rock Hudson in one of his best roles (compare this engaged, whip-smart leader with the current clowns we have running for president). InuYasha: The Final Act, Set One [Blu-ray]

After Many Years We Finally See The Outcome Between Inua Yasha And Friends Against Naraku
While we were able to see the Final Act season subbed for the last year it's great to see that Viz Media was able to get most of the original dubbed cast back to do this final season Of these beloved characters, sadly though understandable is the lack of two of the original dubbing cast who won't apparently be coming back Moneca Stori the dubbed voice of Kagome and David Kaye the dubbed voice of Sesshomaru though from the audio clips I've heard from the voice actor and actress replacing them it wont be as horrific as I first thought. This season will follow almost precisely the story we see in the manga script so there shouldn't be many upset fans of the series. While it's annoying that we can only get this set in two parts it doesn't irk me as much as I would expect especially since I've already waited so long for this already to begin with. This is a must for fans especially those of use who already have the first seven season sets but regardless a great finale to a great series...

After 3+ years of waiting
Finally, after waiting for this release since October 3rd of 2009 it is here!

This Blu-ray or DVD set contains 2 discs containing episodes 1-13, both in dual audio (Eng. Dub/Jap. with English subs) - It contains little to no extras. The extras being 3 trailers or promos from the Japanese television airing back in 2009, original English dub cast list and a trailer or two for Viz Media's new anime service; Neon Alley.

I picked up the Blu-ray release and as far as the quality goes it is AMAZING on my flat screen HD TV. The colors practically pop out at you, and are bright and vivid for the most part. Originally The Final Act did not air in HD when it was broadcasting in Japan, so this is an upscaled release I am assuming, and I can't find a single flaw in the quality. This is also Viz Media's first series Blu-ray release, before TFA all they have released in Blu-ray 1080p format is the Bleach/Naruto/Berserk movies in the last year, so it is indeed a job well done on...

Fitting conclusion
Voices
First of all let me say this is the VIZ Media dub. There is another dub available on the web from ANIMAX. Avoid it. The voices are different than the ones you are used to from the earlier discs or viewings on Adult Swim. True, two of the main character voices (for the English dub) did not come back (Kagome and Lord Sesshomaru) but the actors replacing them are very compatible with the characters. The sound is crisp and clear and the sub-titles are good. The Animax dub is an inferior dub in my opinion.

Animation
CGI, but top notch. One of the things that brought me to Inuyasha was the drawing, especially the backgrounds. Beautifully drawn and now beautifully rendered. No complaints about the quality or the transfer to DVD. Looks great to me.

Story
A bit of a let down. NO SPOILERS FROM ME. A let down in that very soon in the last series you see that there is a formula being followed-hint---Everyone gets their episode in the sun...

Psycho Horror Double Feature: Psycho Kickboxer/Canvas Of Blood

"B" movie collector MUST
This movie is by no means EVER going to win an award.....well maybe a crappy movie award. If you like quality movies this is NOT for you....BUT if you are like me and LOVE horrible acting, action, and film making, this is a must!!! I laughed so hard while watching this. Anyone who collects B movies needs to have this. If you like Movies like Troll 2, you must own. If you like movies like The Notebook, you have problems, AND you won't like this.

What the hell?
PSYCHO KICKBOXER: THE DARK ANGEL (1992/1997) - Kickboxer Alex Hunter (Curtis Bush) seemingly has it all: His kickboxing career is taking off, his girlfriend Julia (Stephanie Godfrey) has just accepted his marriage proposal and his father, Chief of Detectives Alan Hunter (George James), is about to put away crime lord Hawthorne (Tom Story) for a long time. Hawthorne's not having any of that (He's so mean, instead of cutting off an underling's pinky finger as a sign of loyalty, he cuts-off the poor schmuck's entire hand!), so he has his thugs kidnap Alex, Alan and Julia as they walk out of a restaurant and brings them to a warehouse, where a tied-up Alex is forced to witness his father getting his head blown-off with a shotgun (a very gory effect) and then watch Julia being gang-raped, followed by having her throat cut. Alex is shot, beaten and left for dead, but he is saved by black wheelchair-bound Vietnam veteran Joshua (Rod Suiter), who nurses Alex back to health and turns him into...

Leading Ladies Collection 2

a great movie is ruined by this new video release
"Rich and Famous" is a fabulous movie that has been utterly damaged by this new video release (with a street date of April 6, 1999). This film was not available on VHS until it was re-released this month. However, when I purchased and viewed this new release, I found that the film had been severely butchered. Two scenes of a sexual nature (in the airplane and in Jacqueline Bisset's hotel suite) have been almost totally cut out and there are several scenes where some offensive bits of dialog have been "bleeped" out. (In other words, you see the character's lips utter the words, but there is a brief silence on the soundtrack.) This video release is actually the edited, cleaned-up version that was shown on Turner Classic Movies cable channel. I am totally surprised that a major company like MGM/UA Video would release an edited version of a film, without stating this fact on the packaging. This Video Has Been Butchered (From the Original Version!)
Amazon.com owes it to their customers to print this review. It is not so much a review of the film as this new release of the video. I have been waiting for its re-release for years. There is a very good chance I am the greatest fan of this movie, having viewed it no less than 60 times since it debuted in 1981. I was fortunate enough to buy a $90 copy when it was available briefly in the early 80s. But my copy is wearing thin, and I have been eager to replace it. When I saw this available as of 4/6/99 via Amazon.com, I was ecstatic! I received my new copy 4/7/99! Such service. I raced home after work, got comfortable with my bowl of popcorn, all set to recite lines with Bissett and Bergen, and I was appalled!

The standard "This film has been modified from its orginal version. It has been reformatted to fir your TV." shows up. What it SHOULD say is: "This film has been radically altered from its original version. All adult situations have been cut...

An Old Favorite---Ruined
A travesty that key sections of this movie were cut in the video release. I wanted desperately to replace my well-worn copy. Now will not even consider a purchase of this video. The events that were cut are artfully portrayed and so key to the character played by Bissett that her role may as well have been eliminated entirely. So...I wonder whether Ted Turner's company has had a go at editing the film "Barbarella?"

Dress Gray

An Unsung Gem of a TV Movie
Featuring the young Alec Baldwin at his most compelling, Dress Grey (screenplay by Gore Vidal), is a political murder mystery with a Southern Gothic touch. Fans of "Advise and Consent," "The Best Man," etc. will enjoy the slightly over-the-top military-school machinations of a bunch of fine character actors like Hal Holbrook, Alexis Smith, Lloyd Bridges, Eddie Albert et al, and mystery fans won't be disappointed by the plot, which has plenty of twists and turns and even a couple of truly tense and suspenseful moments. Frank discussion of homosexuality in military school setting my be a turn-off for some (and a turn-on for others, for whom Baldwin and fellow students provide plenty of eye-candy.) Long enough for more than one bowl of popcorn, consistenly interesting, a must-see. Not sure what the diffence is between the slightly different prices and number of tapes listed here, I have viewed the double tape version, buy others at your own risk.

A suspensful miltary thriller set in the 1960's!
This video deals with a miltary school in the 1960's. A cadethas died.The miltary are looking into the matter. Everyone issuspect. Alec Baldwin plays a cadet who gets set up during the trial of his fellow cadet. The movie is fast as the miltary is trying to avoid a media frenzy on the base. This movie also deals with gays and the miltary. There is a slight hint that maybe the cadet was killed by a gay lover. Of course the miltary back then would not like this stuff out to the media. The movie is a very suspenseful thriller in the 1960's! This video features an an all star cast Alec Baldwin(The Hunt For Red Ocober,Mecury Rising),Lane Smith(Superman TV series)Lloyd Bridges(the hot shot movies) and others! look for some up and coming stars in this video as well!

I saw this on TV back in the 80's and have been looking everywhere for it on DVD. It's a fantastic movie, a mini-series, but so well acted and I think one of Alec Baldwin's best performances, other then maybe Hunt for Red October. A great drama and you don't know who's the killer until the very end. I am so thankful that Amazon has listened to customers and obtained this on DVD. Thank you so much.
