Bobby Jones: The Complete Warner Bros. Shorts Collection
Entertaining and educational - simply delightful!
This complete collection of Bobby Jones' Warner Brothers shorts exceeded my expectations in every way. Starting with the packaging and printed DVD, they are artistically beautiful, reflecting the Art Deco period of the 1920's and 1930's. Although the product description warns that you may not be able to play the disc on your computer's DVD drive, I had no problem playing the disc on my computer. The menu is very well laid out and easy to navigate. The background for the disc menu is interesting but departs from the theme of this disc, showing a Warner Bros. studio lot overlaid with first-frame images from each short that show the titles. The sound and video quality are surprisingly good! These films (it would seem particularly wrong to call them "videos") are not your typical golf instructional series that would bore a non-golfer to death. Obviously, shorts were played as lead-ins to feature films and therefore needed to entertain everyone watching, golfer or not, and these films...
Bobby Jones- 20th Century shorts, timeless classic golf fundamentals
Warner Bros. and Bobby Jones probably laid the groundwork of breaking down Mr. Jones' grip, stance, clubs and swing analysis before the use of video, computer graphics and advances in golf club technology. Entertaining yet informational.
Great Series
If you read about Jones achievement of winning the US and British Opens and Amateur in the same year, it is very interesting to see his swing, to hear him talk and to see the garbage clubs (compared to todays sleek metal woods and graphite shafts) he had to play with. Makes you wonder what he would have been able to achieve with today's equipment.
